Our garden

You'll recall that we planted a garden this year. We have had a lot of fun growing it.

It's been hard to keep up with it lately. We now have to make time to go over there and take care of it, whereas before, it was just right outside our door. So we decided to pull a lot of it one day.

Sam tried to help, but he didn't like all the bugs jumping on him.

Brett helped by taking all the corn out of the basket.

Sam was able to help with the peppers.

Ignore the face. He was showing how big they are.

This was the haul we got that day. We dug up all the potatoes and onions and most of the corn, but we still have tons of tomatoes and peppers. We go over there every 2 or 3 days, and we end up with 10 or 15 tomatoes each time. We're being overrun!

We made a bunch of salsa with our food, but we may have gone a little overboard. We ended up with about 2 gallons of it. We'll try freezing it and seeing what happens.

A while back, we noticed some type of white fuzz on the leaves of our pumpkin plants. It turns out it was a fungus, so we sprayed them and that seemed to help, but it came back. We were told if the fungus got to the pumpkins, it would rot them. Rather than risk losing all our pumpkins, we decided to pull them a few days ago. Hopefully they'll make it to Halloween. There are still a few left that aren't ripe yet, so we'll check on them periodically.

The little pumpkins were from the mystery plant.
Charlie also picked one of our watermelons, just to see how it was. I think it tasted fine, but I don't really like watermelon, so it would all taste the same to me.

We're a little sad to be done with it, but we're excited to start another one next year :)
