Amelia is 2 months old now. She's growing like crazy! For the most part, she's a pretty chill baby, and very tolerant of her older brothers :) She loves watching her brothers. Charlie "flew" Brett over her today, and she's absolutely loved it. She loves to smile. She doesn't like being put down for very long.
She loves to be in her swing. Lately, it's the only place she'll take a nap. At least she'll sleep in her bed at night.
She still wakes up a few times at night, but she's getting better. She's a night owl, just like the rest of the family, which is great. We love having her in the family :)
Brett has adjusted well to having a new baby in the house. He is very sweet to his sister. Practically since the day we brought her home, Brett will find wherever she is and pet her head. We didn't understand why he did it until we realized we pet his head all the time as a show of affection.
He's still learning that Amelia is too small to rough house. He likes to jump on the bed while she's laying there, so we have to make sure that he doesn't jump on her. He's also learning that he's too small to pick her up.
Brett is as independent as ever. He likes to do everything himself and gets into everything. We don't have to worry about him starving because he is able to figure out how to reach any food he wants. He hadn't been talking much, but after Amelia was born, he started figuring it out. His babbling is turning into real words and he's learning that it's easier to get what he wanted if he says the actual word. Brett is more picky in his eating than Sam was at his age, but when he chooses to eat green beans and peas over junk food, I count it as a win in my book. I have found that he will eat more variety if it comes off my plate. He has never liked chicken nuggets or burritos, but if I start the food off on my plate and then give it to him, he chows down. I'm trying it with more foods he doesn't like to see if I can get him eating better.
He loves to mimic whatever we do. He's learning more every day.
Sam is doing really well. He has loved being back in school after the summer. He's such a smart kid. His teacher was saying that she was giving an example of what the kids should be looking for at the library. She said to look for books that they could understand. For example, a 2nd grader shouldn't check out the Harry Potter books because they wouldn't be able to understand them. Later, she was reading a paper Sam had filled out at the beginning of the year that said one of his favorite things to do was to read Harry Potter books. She said she kind of stuck her foot in her mouth there :)
Sam loves reading and comprehends a lot. It's fun to see him sitting and reading just like I used to do :)
Sam loves to have attention. He's a goofy kid. I always find new pictures that he's taken on my iPad.
He has loved having some older cousins to hang out with every week at Family Home Evening.
He's getting a little more picky in his eating habits, but he still loves fruits and veggies. I always smile internally whenever he asks for a second or third helping of vegetables.
Sam is a great big brother and looks out for both his younger siblings. He gets pretty annoyed at Brett some times, but he still loves playing with him and will do just about anything to make him laugh.
