I think his favorite part was the slide. He had trouble at first getting into the slide to begin with. It's got kind of a lip on it, and he was having trouble getting over that.
He scared me at times when he wanted to walk through the pool by himself. He still hadn't quite mastered walking in the pool yet, but we were close by to catch him if he fell.
And we know that the lessons were working. They would have us dunk him under water for a little bit so they could get used to being under water. He would learn to hold his breath under water. Sam didn't like it much at the start, but he would do it if we bribed him with a ball afterward. Well, one of the games that he liked to play was to jump from the stairs and we would catch him. One time he jumped while we were talking to the instructor and we didn't see him. It was probably only 2 seconds that he was under water, but it scared us pretty bad. When we got him back up, he had been holding his breath so he didn't breathe in the water. But after that experience, he insisted on wearing a life jacket.
