Charlie's dad took us to the Park County Fair. First off was dinner. Charlie was happy that his throat was back to normal, so he ended up getting a huge steak to eat, just because he could. Sam was excited for Jenn's Little China, so the kids ate that. I got a couple slices of Pizza on the Run. A storm started moving in while we were waiting for food. We moved the kids over to a covered area right before the rain hit. Then I went back to wait in line. I didn't mind it too much. I like the rain :)
After dinner, we headed over to the bubble tower. I think Brett was in heaven. He was having so much fun. Sam thought it was pretty fun too. The machine was malfunctioning a little bit so all the bubble were coming out in huge globs, but I think the boys liked it better that way (we went back later in the evening and they had fixed it).
Then we started going on the rides. We were debating whether it would be worth it to get Brett a bracelet. We didn't know if he would be interested or not. So we bought a few tickets and decided to see how he would act. One time in the house of mirrors, and we knew it would be worth it for a bracelet. Even though he came down the slide like this:
He tried running right back through. He loved all the rides he was big enough for. Any time he saw Sam moving toward a ride
He had to follow him.
The nice thing was that for any rides that Brett was too small to go on alone, a parent could go with him for free. So Charlie and I ended up riding quite a few rides as well.
This was one of the only rides he was big enough to go on by himself.
They really liked this ride. They went on it quite a few times throughout the afternoon. Then the last time through, the guy wouldn't let Brett get on. He kept saying that he was too short, but he would let him on if I paid tickets for myself. And it was the same guy that had let Charlie on with Brett earlier. So I just took Brett and did the merry-go-round instead.
The same thing happened at the house of mirrors. We had been doing the house of mirrors all afternoon, but later in the evening, Brett ran in and I started chasing after him. Then the guy stopped me and said that Brett was too short (all the while Brett was running through). It didn't help that he couldn't speak English, but he pointed at the height sign and said something about 36 inches. I just said, "No, he's fine. He's been doing this all night." then just ran in after Brett,
Sam was too short to go on bumper cars by himself, so I went with him. I think he had fun on them, but he only wanted to do them once.
Brett loved the merry-go-round. I think Sam was a little scared at first, so he just wanted to sit on a bench.
After he realized it wasn't so scary, he decided to get on a horse too.
This was probably the only smiles during this whole ride. It started off fine, just going in a circle. Then the guy started making it go backwards and warp speed. It hurt! And it just kept going and going! And we would finally think that it was stopping, and then he would start it back up again going backwards. It went forever! Even I didn't enjoy that one. The next day, my arm and my leg were hurting really bad for no reason, to the point that I was thinking I needed to go to the doctor. This went for a couple days before I realized that I had probably been bracing myself and Sam on the ride to try and curb some of the impact.
Another fun ride was the super slide. It's that slide that you go down on sacks. Sam is scared of heights, but he really wanted to do it. I took Brett and we all went down at the same time. Brett was on my lap and Sam was next to me. I almost fell the first time, which would have sent Brett tumbling down. Luckily I caught myself. Brett just kept running, trying to get back in line for another turn, He got pretty frustrated when more people started showing up later in the night. He didn't like waiting in line.
We also talked Sam into doing that ride that looks like a UFO (I can't remember the same) where you get inside and just stand on the walls. Then it starts spinning really fast and pushes you up the walls. Sam thought it was pretty fun. It made him pretty dizzy afterwards though.
Amelia did pretty good. She was too little for anything, so she spent most of her time either in the stroller or being held. She got grumpy toward the end, but it was pretty late before we left.
It was a really fun night. I'm glad that everyone was able to have so much fun!
