July had a bunch of bumps and bruises. Brett was jumping on our bed one day (I should mention that Charlie was in charge:) ) while Amelia was sitting on the bed. He jumped and she bounced off the bed and hit her face right on the wood floor. These pictures don't do that bruise justice. I was afraid she broke her nose, but it was hard to tell with all the swelling. Luckily, it was just bruised. It spread to give her black eyes too.
Brett ran right in front of me one day. I ended up tripping him and he fell over and did a face plant on the cement.
We went to the Byron Day's fireworks. My sister and her kids were in town, along with Charlie's sister and her family. My parents and my sister took our kids over to the church lawn to watch the fireworks so that Charlie and I could watch the fireworks up close in the park with Charlie's sister. It got pretty interesting. Right after I took the kids to the church, a storm started cropping up. There was a pretty amazing lightning show. After a while, the rain came. It was pretty intense! We had a blanket to cover ourselves, but within a few minutes, it was pretty worthless. It got soaked so bad that it was dripping through the blanket. The rain didn't last long, but the wind kept up for quite a while. The fireworks got started really late, but they were great as always. Over at the church, the kids were getting scared with the lightning, so they all packed into the cars. They got into the cars right before the rain hit, so they were pretty fortunate. They ended up watching the fireworks from Charlie's parents' house.
Brett found Sam's old bike in my parents' garage. He's been having a lot of fun riding it.
I found a bunch of boxes of carpet tile at a yard sale for $5. I decided it would be good to put in our storage room so that the kids would have a better surface to play on when I turned it into a play room. It BARELY covered. I had remnants totaling maybe 1 1/2 carpet squares left over.
I was so disappointed in myself. We went to the movie one night and ordered a large popcorn. I was sure that I would be eating it and getting a refill. I hardly made a dent in it. Charlie still wasn't able to eat popcorn because it hurt his throat. He always says he doesn't eat much of the popcorn, but now I'm not sure I believe him.
I was making Cheerio treats for FHE one night. I made a double batch to take over there. Then Sam came in and said that I should make extra for us to keep at home. So I started to make another double batch. Then I realized that I put in twice the amount of sugar that I was supposed to. So I added in twice as much of the other ingredients to make up for it. I ended up with 6 batches of Cheerio treat. I wasn't too disappointed in the mishap :)
Brett went to the dentist for the first time. He just looked too cute. The dentist we go to has a TV mounted on the ceiling so you can watch Netflix while they work on your teeth. He's watching Phineas and Ferb.
Someone left the gate to the garden open while we were watering. Luckily, Brett didn't do anything destructive.
Sam's cousins got to stay with us one night. We set up the big tent in the back yard and they all slept out there for the night. Sam had a lot of fun. We let them stay up later than usual so that they could play on the trampoline for a while.
