Sunshine Reservior-- Dec 19

Charlie wanted all of us to go out to Sunshine Reservoir while he fished.

Sam had fun scooping the ice out of the holes...

until he stepped in one of them. Then the fun was all over. He went and sat in the ice fishing hut to warm up.
Then I suggested sledding. He was all for that. So while Charlie fished, we went sledding on the hills they have around there. We got going pretty fast. It was really tiring at first because Sam just wanted to stay in the sled the entire time, so I was walking uphill, dragging a sled behind me while Sam sat and watched. After a few times, he decided that he wanted to walk up the hill too. That made it a lot easier. Winchester had a lot of fun too. He would run right next to us all the way down the hill, nipping at my ankles. Sam enjoyed watching him, so it made it even more fun.

After Charlie was done fishing, he joined us. We went down a few more times. Then things started going downhill.
The first thing that happened: We had been there all day, and it had been an active day. Sam was getting really tired.
The second thing that happened: While Sam and I were going down the hill, Winchester got a little too close and knocked the sled over. Sam face planted into the snow. He was not happy, but I convinced him to go a few more times.
The third thing that happened: Sam wanted to go down the hill with Charlie. I told Charlie to steer the sled with his hands. He decided to steer with his feet. Here is the result:

After that, Sam was done.

Charlie went down one more time for good measure. He slipped down and had a pretty hard time steering. It didn't help with Winchester trying to jump on him. But he made it down. All in all, a fun day. And it sure wore Sam out. He slept quite soundly that night :)
