That's right, we found out we're having a girl. I was pretty sure that we were having a girl, but our first ultrasound made me wonder. A few weeks ago, the technician told us straight out that he wasn't sure what we were having. Then he told us that if we needed an answer, he was 55% sure that there was a possibility that those might be boy parts.
Now, I know that that's very ambiguous, but it made me question.
Since the baby was still too small at the first ultrasound to get all the proper measurements, the doctor wanted us to get another one. We waited a little longer than I normally would have, just so we could be sure that the baby was big enough to tell gender. This time, the technician seemed pretty confident.
She had a really hard time getting any face pictures because, as she put it, "She's burying her head in your pelvic bone." It's amazing to see how much things can develop in a matter of a few weeks. This time, we were able to see fingers and toes (which she kept in her mouth during a lot of the ultrasound). We're excited/freaked out about having a girl :)
Everything else:
We had the missionaries over one night for dinner. While I was driving them back to their house, Brett climbed up on the table and dumped the parmesan cheese all over the table. I think this one can be considered Charlie's fault since he was the one watching him at the time :) He sure does love parmesan cheese.
Sam has enjoyed having a big back yard to play in. He loves going outside to play on his trampoline.
My mom found a little rocket at a yard sale one day. Sam had been asking to play with it, so we took it out one day. It went a lot higher than we thought it would. Both boys had a lot of fun with it.
We had to make a rule that you couldn't try to catch it until it had bounced once because it came down so fast. I actually got grazed by it once. If I hadn't been pregnant, it wouldn't have hit me :)
We hadn't played Elefun in a while, so I pulled it out. Brett loved it. I think his favorite part was actually putting the butterflies back in the elephant :)
There was a pallet garden when we moved in. We didn't want to do a pallet garden, so we had to rip them all out. We got most of them done before winter, but then it got too cold and we had to stop. We were left with a huge pile of pallets that weren't good for much other than burning.
We had been waiting for a couple months for the chance to burn. When it was our week to burn, either the wind was blowing, or there was a downpour. We finally got a chance last weekend. We planned on just burning the back portion of the property. There are a lot of goat heads growing back there, so we wanted to burn right there. The fire wasn't getting hot enough, so we piled a bunch of pallets on it. Before long, the entire pile was gone. I think it looks much better :)
We still have to burn the rest of the area. There are wood chips covering the whole thing. And we still have some pallets to dig up. I was pregnant by the time the weather warmed up, so I couldn't pull up any more this year.
Sam enjoyed being a fireman. He helped us put out the remains of the fire. He thought it was pretty cool to spray water on the hot coals and watch the smoke billow up.
