Yard Clean Up

We decided to make yesterday our yard clean up day. We got started later than we intended (I'll admit it was my fault:) so we didn't get as much done as we wanted to. Sam has been wanting to jump in a pile of leaves ever since he saw a picture of one of his cousins playing in a pile of leaves. Charlie wanted to fertilize the lawn anyway, so we raked up all the leaves. That's one of the bad parts of having such a big yard: it holds much larger volume of leaves. It took a long time. But everybody chipped in, even Brett.

Not surprisingly, Sam got bored after a while and just wanted to play in the leaves. We had planned on burning the leaves, but then we found out that it wasn't a day that we could burn, so we decided to bag them up instead (which was a good call after the crazy wind storm we got last night). Brett started bringing leaves and putting them in the bag. We started teasing Sam that Brett was working more than Sam was, and Sam couldn't let that happen, so he ran over and started bagging the leaves with us :) Sam was excited to help with fertilizing the lawn. He thought the push fertilizer spreader looked pretty cool. He did pretty good with it, until he got distracted with the sprinklers and decided to run through them instead. Charlie and his dad were able to finish the back yard while I watched the boys inside (Brett kept trying to escape the back yard). Hopefully next week, we'll be able to get the front yard done and get the pallet garden ripped out.
