I was so excited to use the Advent Calendar I had made. Each day had a different activity for us to do. It was going to be so much fun! Day 1, we put up the Christmas tree and decorations. Day 2, we go so sick that we couldn't even get out of bed. Everyone was sick. I thought it would be ok. There were a few activities that were really just fillers because I couldn't think of anything else. I would just take those ones out and we would still be on track. Unfortunately, this sickness lasted pretty much the entire month of December. We were only able to do about 10 of the activities I had planned, and 6 of those were opening a present.
Here was one activity we got done. Sam made snowmen to give to various people for Christmas. The only reason I actually did this one was because they were Christmas presents for lots of people, and I didn't have anything else to give them.
Another activity was making chocolate suckers. It was one of the days I was feeling ok, so I figured I could do them. Sam lost interest after the first couple suckers and went off to play. He came back when they were all done.
The original plan was to make plates full of goodies, but with as sick as we were, I didn't think people would appreciate us coming over and giving them a plate full of germs.
We were also able to go to the ward Christmas party. The primary did a little skit about Jesus. Sam was a sheep, but he wasn't too happy about it. He just wanted to go lay down for a while.
Then Santa came. For once, Sam wasn't scared at all to go sit on his lap. Last year, I had to kneel next to Santa, and Sam sat on my lap.
At the Savage Christmas party, we played a few rounds of BINGO. Sam was having fun, until other people started shouting out BINGO! He wanted to win.
He even accused my dad of cheating when he got a BINGO before Sam lol
Ever since Sam played Kirby at his cousins' house last summer, he has been wanting that game. He told me for months that he was going to ask Santa for the Wii game for Christmas. And of course, he did. He continued to tell me that he was getting the Kirby game from Santa because he had been a really good boy. Luckily, Santa found the game for 70% off at a close out sale :)
On Christmas eve, Sam opened presents from Grandma and Grandpa Cordova. They got him a Wii game: Donkey Kong. Sam was so excited for it, he was going around hi-fiving everyone and played it for quite a while. I was excited for his reaction to Kirby. If he was so excited for a game he didn't even ask for, imagine what it would be like when he got Kirby. So, on Christmas morning, I recorded him seeing his presents from Santa. And guess what? Practically no reaction. He walked in, saw the game, and basically gave a look like, "Yeah, of course I got Kirby. That's what I asked for." He was so certain that he was getting the game, it wasn't even a surprise. Ah well.
We got to go watch my dad dig some dirt in the back hoe. Sam wasn't too sure of it, since it was so big. But as we watched him move the dirt around, Sam liked it more, especially the part where Grandpa dumped a shovel out of the bucket. Sam didn't want to be near it, but he liked watching it :)
