And It's Still Not Done

So you may remember some time around Christmas that I started a project remodeling Charlie's parents' bathroom. I was able to continue working on it in March when we came for a visit. At the end of the week, I was still nowhere near finished, so I decided I would stay another week. Here are the "before" again in case you forgot :)

And here's the almost "after" pictures. I got all the tile installed, grouted, and sealed. We also got the new toilet and vanity installed as well.

I think it turned out pretty good. As you can see, there is still quite a bit to be done. I still need to get trim up around the floors, window, and mirror. Then I need to texture and paint the walls. Then caulk everything. I would have had more time to get things done, but we ran into a few bumps along the way. Such as the sink leaking for no apparent reason. My cousin was able to come and tinker with it a little to get it to stop leaking. The toilet was also malfunctioning. There's something wrong with the stuff inside the tank. Sure, the toilet is functional, it's just that in order to flush, you have to reach your hand in the tank and pull the ball up. There's too much pressure on it for it to do it on its own. So until that gets replaced, I guess it will just have to do. There was also quite a bit of trouble replacing the tub drain. Everything was wedged in so tight that we could barely get it off. It took a lot longer to wedge the new stuff back in. And then it was leaking (see a pattern? I think I'm not supposed to be a plumber, although I don't think any of the problems were user error) but Gil was able to get that stopped. There was supposed to be a new light fixture as well that my dad was going to install, but when he took the old one down, he discovered some rather interesting wiring. He said he probably could have done it, but better to be safe than sorry. We'll just have to wait for an electrician. But it looks a little something like this:

There's also a new exhaust fan to be installed, but that needs an electrician as well.
Maybe next time, I can get it completely finished :)
