June---Washington Trip

I'll try and get more information about the trip from Charlie later on, but I'll give a condensed and most likely inaccurate list of events.

Charlie's dad was planning a trip to Washington to see family and invited us along. There was no way I would make it that long in a car (I think it ended up being about 40 hours in the car round trip), so I chose to stay home.

About 2 hours into the trip, Sam asked if they were there yet. Sadly, they still had about 10 hours left to go. After dropping everyone off at various places where they were staying for the night and getting dinner, Charlie and the boys finally got to their destination around 11pm (10pm in Washington). Sam got to play Wii with his "new cousin" but he couldn't remember her name.

After such a long night, Sam and Gil both fell asleep during Sacrament meeting. I mean, Gil was praying and Sam was sleeping.

After church, they all went swimming with their "new cousins." Brett had a pretty rough time with lack of sleep and no time for a nap.

They went to the Columbia River. There are lots of seashells there. Sam had a lot of fun collecting over 100 seashells.

Brett saw them collecting seashells and decided to collect some as well.

Charlie said Brett may or may not have gotten his first taste of beer. They were out talking with family. They looked over and saw Brett with a beer bottle at his mouth. They quickly took it away, but probably not quick enough that he didn’t get some. Charlie said not to worry, that whatever he did end up getting, it didn’t look like he enjoyed it much.

Sam got to go the arcade with his cousins (seriously, I need some names :) that night. Apparently, it's really fun and lit up at night. Sam had a lot of fun and ended up with a bunch of prizes.

(At this point, we got bad reception/really late nights/too much other stuff going on to really talk during our nightly Facetime, so it's really a lot of guessing from this point out of the events)

They traveled to Westport Beach.

--June 17--
Today was the day for deep sea fishing. Charlie was afraid that his recent appendectomy might make it difficult to reel the fish in, but he didn't feel a lot of pain. I'm guessing just a lot of adrenaline took away the pain :) They were really successful with their fishing (I know this much is true, because my freezer is full of fish).

--June 18--
Hoh Rainforest and Ruby Beach

Sam absolutely loved the beach.

Brett liked touching everything and watching it react.

--June 19--
Lake Crescent
They got to ride in some paddleboats.

Brett thought it was fun feeding the ducks.

--June 20--
Sol Duc Falls, Hurricane Ridge, and their first ferry ride

Brett liked the ferry ride. He liked watching the ocean. Sam did not like the foghorn.

--June 21--
Drove home

They had a really great trip. Unfortunately, with all the late nights and time changes, we still haven't been able to get the boys back on their normal schedule. Hopefully soon.
