Time to Catch Up

I think it was Saturday, April 31st. The day started out normal. I got up and went to a few yard sales in the morning, then came home to go about my day. The plan was that Charlie was going to take Sam fishing for the day so I could get some much needed cleaning done. Around 9, I started getting a pain in my side. Not too bad, just enough to be annoying. By 10, it was getting much worse, enough that I was pretty worthless to be doing anything (brothers, not a word.). I laid down, hoping some rest would make the pain go away. By 11, the pain was getting to be unbearable. Luckily, Charlie hadn't left to go fishing yet. He eventually persuaded me that we should go to the Urgent Care and make sure there was nothing wrong. We went there, where they determined that I had appendicitis and I needed to head to the emergency room. We dropped Sam off at a friend's house (thank goodness. It would have been a much more horrible day trying to entertain Sam in the ER all day) and headed to the hospital. There, I spent the next 6 hours or so getting all the tests done and whatnot to make sure that I was, in fact, having an appendicitis. The surgery went well and I was out in no time. Luckily, my parents were able to come and help out. They were able to take Sam back with them so I could recover without needing to worry about him. It helped tremendously. It was right around Easter, so he got to do some fun Easter activities. Here he is dyeing Easter eggs. It sounded like he had fun with it.

Then he got to go to Byron for the Easter egg hunt.

 Oooh, candy!
Sam has loved playing board games with us lately. Here, we were playing Last Night on Earth. You should have heard the smack he was talking to Charlie. Like screaming out, "Let's kill some zombies!" and "You're going down!" At one point, Charlie was talking to himself and said, "Let's see, I need to roll..." At which point, Sam yelled out, "To die!" It was quite fun.
We were able to get to Lovell during Charlie's short break. While we were there, we were able to plant some of my parents' garden. Sam was a wonderful helper. He plowed the rows, dug holes, planted seeds, and watered everything. I am amazed at his attention span sometimes.

We had to take a trip in the wagon.

And, for a preview of an upcoming post:

Sam's birthday party :) Can you guess the theme? It's going to be fun!
