For days, Sam had been talking about lighting fireworks. Any time he would hear a firecracker, he would perk right up and yell, "Fireworks!" We thought he would be really excited. Charlie and I went and bought him some little fireworks that we thought he might enjoy. One was a little army tank. He eagerly took the punk and we helped him light it. It all went downhill from there. He got a bit scared when everyone took off running. Then he got more scared when the tank loudly popped. After that, the closest he would get was sitting on the steps, covering his ears.

He showed a little interest in the smoke bombs, but still wanted to just stay inside, away from all the commotion.
He had a lot of fun throwing Snappies with his cousins...

But once they brought out the fire,

He stayed back.

Hopefully we'll have better luck next year :)
