CJ Box, one of Charlie's favorite authors, was doing a cook signing in Laramie. CJ Box writes a series of books about Joe Pickett, a game warden that lives in Twelve Sleep ( I think that's the name of the town). Charlie really likes these books because they take place in an area that he can actually picture. He's been to the places talked about. So when Charlie found out that CJ Box was going to be in Laramie to promote his newest book, Nowhere to Run, he wanted to go. He even missed an Astros game. I went too, but I wasn't able to sit in and listen because Sam apparently had a lot of pent-up energy, so I spent the whole time chasing him around. When Charlie went to get his book signed, he told CJ Box that he grew up in the same area as the books. When Charlie said he used to live in Byron, CJ Box started laughing and said that he actually got a ticket driving through there (surprised?) and it actually inspired one of his characters, Officer Byron. Charlie got a kick out of that.
Now it's just a matter of finding time to sit down and read the book. According to the critics, this is the best book he's written so far, so we're both excited to read it.
