For my birthday, we went up North Fork and went rock hunting. We had a really good time.
Some of my dad's family was in town, so we had a little lunch with everyone. They introduced us to this fun new game. I have no idea what it was called, but the basic idea is to knock down all the blocks on the other side and then knock down the middle one by throwing little wooden rods at them.
Sam thought it was a really fun game and thought that we should make one :)
After lunch we headed over to the splash pad with my cousin and her kids.
Brett took a little while, but he started having fun eventually.
Amy never did have fun. It probably didn't help that it was nap time.
I hadn't planned on getting wet, but Sam got me with the big water gun.
It was kind of a cold day, so Sam had to lay in the sun a lot to warm up.
Grandpa Cordova found the kids a little playhouse. They had tons of fun with it. It was too big for our house, so we put it out in the back yard. They loved that. Sadly, it didn't hold up against the weather :(
We celebrated Brett and Amelia's birthdays.
I think Amelia destroyed her cake more than either of the boys did on their first birthdays.
Brett was always trying to ride Sam's scooted, but he didn't have enough balance. So when I saw this 3-wheeled scooter, I knew that would be perfect. He absolutely loves it!
Amelia got a ride-on/walker toy. She really liked it.
Sadly, bedtime rolled around, as did the meltdowns. Any time she got stuck on anything, she threw a major fit!
Amelia got a hold of a tomato at my parents' house. She seemed to not like it, but she would get mad if we took it away. We're still not quite sure what she thought of it.
Sam enjoyed another year of soccer. I think his favorite position was defender. He could kick it all the way to the other end of the field! We had kind of a rough time. We ended up having just enough kids to fill a team. We didn't have any subs the entire season. And a lot of games, we had to borrow the other team's kid so we would have enough. At the start of the season, the kids could barely make it to the end of the game they were so tired. But by the end of the season, they were able to keep going the entire game. They usually had to all take a turn at goalie to rest for a bit, but they made it!
Sam got to go on a father/son camp out with Charlie and Charlie's dad. I think they had lots of fun :)
While we were cleaning out my parents' garage, we found a big blow up pool. Sam insisted that we needed to make sure that it worked properly, so we blew it up and filled it up. They had fun with it, even if it was a little cold.
I had a yard sale this summer to get rid of some stuff. I decided to get rid of this swing since the kids never played in it anymore. I think they played with it more during the yard sale than they did the whole time we had it :)
Sam's First Day of School:
Corn on the Cob Season!
It kind of reminded me of this photo:
Bath time got a little out of hand one day.
Brett discovered ear buds. He thinks it's hilarious when they fall out of his ears :)
Brett got a hold of a Costco bottle of dish soap in our downstairs bathroom. I knew it was going to take a long time to clean up, so I just shut the door and pretended it wasn't there until I had enough time to clean it up. I think it ended up taking about 2 1/2 hours, but my floor was very clean!
Amelia found a new place to hide. It kind of freaks me out when I'm running around the house looking for her and I can't find her. Then I'll hear her making sounds from inside.
Brett "helping" empty the dishwasher:
Charlie almost made a big mistake. He was going to make some cookies for a session. He was getting everything put in little bags to take with him. I noticed that the powdered sugar was out on the counter, and I hadn't used the powdered sugar lately. That's when I realized Charlie had packed powdered sugar instead of flour. In his defense, the containers weren't labeled, and for someone who doesn't bake much, he couldn't tell the difference :)
Brett loves this exersaucer. He has always been the one that liked it the most. Even though he's too big for it, he still likes to get in it.
My mom had Guitar Hero out one day. Amelia decided to give it a try.
It's a good thing that Amelia likes being splashed. Because this is what happens any time she visits Brett while he's taking a bath :)
